The Guncle Abroad - Steven Rowley
Looking for something just funny and light to take you away from current events? Here you go. The fact that it takes place in my all time favorite hotel on Lake Como was a bonus for me. The rehersal dinner at one of the most magnificent villas that I happened to visit was icing on the cake. Rowley is hilarious and I loved the first book The Guncle and recommend it (again) as another indulgent read or listen. A

If you read The Daily Mail British edition or enjoy Clarkson's Farm on Netflix, this is for you. Funny, cringeworthy, and apparently quite accurate depiction of life at the country manors in Oxfordshire. I did succumb to some eye-rolling, but it was still a fun read. A-

Book banning is an incendiary topic for me. This book tackles it in a direct, but distinctly Southern humor manner. No one is demonized, but they are shown to be foolish and short-sighted, but also capable of redemption. A good way to approach the topic for discussion. A
On Call - Anthony Fauci M.D.
Regardless of your opinion of COVID, I will tell you that Fauci has been a rockstar in immunology since the early 80's. I always thought he was a publicity hound back then, but the guy did the work so... This memoir will give you a tiny look at how complicated it is to care for really sick patients and deadly infectious diseases. A+
