Cave Mountain-Benjamin Hale
This non-fiction book tells the story of a girl lost in the Arkansas wilderness in 2001-a cousin to the author. Her story has an eerie connection to another young girl lost in the same area years before. The story goes on to describe religious cults, Evangelical fervor, prophets, and extremism. Hale remains objective to the skepticism and Biblical contortions of the Ozark residents.

This is Not About Us- Allegra Goodman
Families are messy and any big family is even messier. But this big, lovable, Jewish family is funny, exasperating, and real. Just a great story from a writer I enjoy. I recommended her last book, Isola in this blog.

Lake Effect- Cynthia D'Aprix Sweeney
Another family saga- big and definitely complicated, but another author I truly enjoy.
Spanning several decades , it is evocative of a past many of us can relate to. The Nest by this author is also a great read.

This Book Made Me Think of You- Libby Page
Charming book, not saccharine- Tilly is contacted by a bookshop six months after her husband dies to learn he has left a dozen books for her- one a month. each with a letter. Sounds sicky sweet, but no, it is well done and Tilly's year of grief and recovery is realistic.

Whidbey- T. Kira Madden
This is not an easy read- it concerns child sex abuse and the aftermath for the victims as well as the family of the perpetrator. If you can stomach the subject, it is excellent for discussion. In light of Epstein, it is also timely.

The Final Score- Don Winslow
Yes- I read everything by Winslow and I urge you to as well. He is fantastic. He spends years on his research and does it all in person, so his writing all rings true because it is!
The Power of the Dog Trilogy
The Force
The Danny Ryan Trilogy.
Sprong break, summer vacay- you have time- start reading.
