A Town Without Time by Gay Talese

A collection of 6 decades of stories about NYC. A fun book to graze and pick out the essays that appeal to you and your memories of the city. A

Do Something by Guy Trebay

A memoir from Trebay chronicling his coming of age in the gritty NYC of the 70's. He is a widely published writer, currently the style critic for NYTimes. A

Homeseeking by Karissa Chen

The more I read about the cultural revolution of China, the better I understand it and appreciate what the Chinese endured. It also helps put Taiwan and Shanghai into historical context. This is the story of a Chinese couple, together and apart, from childhood to old age, from China to California. Tender and bittersweet. A.

Dead Money by Jacob Kerr

Those tech bros think they are so smart. This twisty and twisted thriller has multiple layers of surprises and a boffo ending. Also good as an Audible. A.

The Last Word by Elly Griffiths

A delightfully sinister British mystery with an unlikely detective duo. Pacing, plot, and characters all well done. Enjoy this! A.

Good Dirt by Charmaine Wilkerson

Well-to-do Black family in the northeast and the saga of the historical pottery piece in their family and its fate. The best part for me was the story of the Black pottery workers in South Carolina. The contemporary story had some weaker parts and was repetitive in areas, but still worth reading! A-

Other reads to consider-

Shell Games by Bonnie Kistler- Murder mystery set in South Florida. Developers, doctors, lawyers, bankers- everyone wants a piece of the commercial real estate action. Definitely had me guessing. Good as an Audible.

Going Home by Tom Lamont- Three men, unlikely caregivers suddenly confronted with a four year-old child to look after. This was a relatively good book, but far from the "sparkling and funny" descriptions it received in reviews.
