My favorite read this month. Multi-generational story of a family on a sheep station in Western Australia. The travails, tragedies, and triumphs told in spare and elegant prose. Don't miss this one.

Artie Dam is no Olive Kitteridge, but he is a good person and a terrifically dedicated teacher. This is a satisfying read that you will enjoy.

This is, indeed, a violent, at times, gruesome book. Harper is a Hollywood insider who does not shrink from the ugly side of LA. His aggressive writing and hyperbolic story has enough truth to it to make you uncomfortable, which is his goal.
I also liked his Everybody Knows.

This story of mother and her teen daughter, did not thrill me as Where'd You Go ,Bernadette. It was pretty good until the end when I found it too contrived and complicated. But I would still recommend it.

Five passengers on the platform, train is due in 5 minutes and you are told one will die before it arrives. Initially, you will find them all unappealing, but as their backstories are revealed, your sentiments may shift. You never know what someone else is going through.
