Oh the places you'll go-

These books have nothing in common except great writing.

Another fine book from a favorite author. Friends and Strangers by J. Courtney Sullivan details the relationship between a new mom and her college student helper. We do not always recognize our power and influence . The sister of the main character is cringe-worthy as an Instagram influencer.

If you google this book be sure to add "book" to the search or it will give you the jacket!

Members Only by Sameer Pandya is a perfect choice for a book club and also for college students. The theme of freedom of speech and appreciation of ideas that do not align with your own as well as culture clash, privilege and power are beautifully presented here with no preaching or assumed superiority.

Ant is a recovering criminal who loves fast cars and fast driving , particularly the criminal kind. But his new life in the backroad towns of Virginia comes with money troubles- rent, braces for his son and a nursing home that will give his mean-ass Mother back if he doesn't pay her bill. So one more job may be necessary. This is a violent, gritty story with no hero. But it is great writing and the descriptions and dialogue of the supporting cast of mostly idiots is dead on. Blacktop Wasteland by S.A. Cosby is a fast paced thrill ride.

This well-crafted mystery will cool you off on a hot day. An isolated farmhouse in the far reaches of Iceland on Christmas Eve and a stranger knocks on the door. You won't see this coming. The Mist by Ragnar Jonasson introduced me to a new writer and I look forward to more from him.
