Lots to choose from!

This is Ear Hustle by Nigel Poor and Earlonne Woods

The title is a prison term for eavesdropping. The book -which I strongly recommend as an Audible- is a compilation of stories from prisoners recounting experiences and thoughts from before , during, and after incarceration. It began as a podcast entry into a contest where it was chosen won "Best New Podcast".

The Love Songs of W.E.B. Du Bois by Honoree Fanonne Jeffers

At 800 pages, this is a challenging task. The subject matter of a contemporary Black woman uncovering the details of her family's difficult history in the South is brutal, but triumphant. Jeffers tells her story with strength, dignity and passion.

A+

A Flicker in the Dark by Stacy Willingham

This book is by a local author whom I wanted to support, and I was rewarded with a great book. Her second of a three book deal is already in the works. This one has been optioned for a movie. Compelling story that will keep you guessing, and no saccharine ending.

Mouth to Mouth by Antoine Wilson

Former classmates meet by chance in the airport at JFK when their flight is delayed. One is compelled to relate the story of his life and career which turned out quite well. How he actually achieved his success is revealed in the last pages.
