Charming and easy reading.

Better Luck Next Time by Julia Claiborne Johnson is a fast and funny read. Set in 1938, it follows a cast of characters at a Reno ranch where well-healed divorcees wait the required 6 weeks to establish residency for divorce in Nevada. Johnson drops a multitude of time worn aphorisms and a few I never heard-all bemusing. There are some broken hearts to add some drama, but overall this is a simply delightful book. A-

Be Frank With Me by the same author is the reason I read the above book in the first place. Published in 2016, it is a sweet story of a publisher's rep who travels to California to work with an author and is assigned to provide care to her 9 year old son as part of her duties. Johnson pens a sweet, engaging story that goes down easy. A-
